To All the Staff and Trainers,
I want to share with all of you my heartfelt thanks for all the kindness you have shown to me at the Jungle Club. I am a new resident of Vero Beach and didn’t know a soul except family when I moved here. I have struggled with many difficult adversities in my life and was worried about my move and making friends in a new town. All of you- Linda at the front desk, Katie, and especially Scott and the trainers made me feel so welcome. I especially want to give a special thanks to Denise, Jacyln, Rian and Alvin who have worked so hard with me- both on an individual basis and in class- and given so genuinely of their time. When I first started at the Jungle Club, I was struggling with my weight and was terribly out of shape; I hadn’t seen the inside of a gym in over 20 years. Because of the dedication all the trainers have to their profession, they have inspired me to work hard and achieve goals, both in the gym and out, that I never thought I was capable of. I have lost body fat, gained strength and most of all confidence in myself. I can’t begin to say what that means to me. To every trainers and staff member of the Jungle Club, you are remarkable people, and I want to thank you for welcoming me and really making me feel a part of the Jungle Club.
Sincerely, Fredi Fenton

As new residents of Vero Beach, we were happy to know that there were a variety of health and fitness clubs to choose from. And so our search began for the right place. It had to meet our clear guidelines as a family. We were not just searching for any gym; we were searching for a community of people who has a special energy, and were both nurturing and tough at the same time. After all, we were searching for a place for Shane.
Shane was 5 ½ years old when our family car was crashed by another car driven by a drunk driver. Shane was in a coma for a month as a result of the crash. Shane is now 25 years old and the survivor of a Traumatic Brain Injury.
After a long journey through intensive rehabilitation programs in Boston, Massachusetts and through many social and community programs in Portland, Maine, we had plenty of experience to draw from. Looking carefully at each place in Vero, we settled upon the Jungle Club. We met with the manager, a professional girl, who gave us a great tour. We found a very clean, modern, and fitness-focused facility, complete with it’s own health-conscious café and were ready to commit.
Shane also needed a personal trainer to help him safely meet his personal fitness goals. This would be the first time Shane had totally moved outside of the medical rehabilitative process and into a much more “normal” life program. We were introduced to a professional trainer named Latifah. From day one, we could tell Shane was ecstatic with his newfound friend and trainer. In Shane’s life, he has crossed paths with many therapists, counselors and other specialists. Latifah is counted among the few who have given him the gift of becoming the person he was meant to be. We like to think of her as a master of fine-tuning. Anyone who meets Shane knows he is a genuinely good human being. Latifah is helping him to reach his full potential both physically and emotionally. She has motivated him into becoming physically fit while speaking to him about the importance of making good food choices as well as other valuable life lessons. As Shane’s parents and first teachers, we can say with confidence: Latifah has become one of his great teachers.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and in Shane’s case it has been a number of villages, including the Jungle Club. Thank you Latifah, and the Jungle Club staff who continue to touch Shane’s life.
